Dr. Mary K. Campbell was a Mount Holyoke College Professor Emeritus of Chemistry who taught biochemistry, general chemistry, and physical chemistry, as well as advised undergraduates working on biochemical research projects. Her zeal for writing resulted in the publication of numerous highly successful editions biochemistry-related textbooks.
Dr. Campbell, who is originally from Philadelphia, received her Ph.D. from Indiana University and did postdoctoral work in biophysical chemistry at Johns Hopkins University. Her research interests included the physical chemistry of biomolecules, particularly spectroscopic studies of protein-nucleic acid interactions.
She also coauthored Biochemistry with Shawn Farrell, as well as several editions of General, Organic, And Biochemistry by Bettelheim, Campbell, Brown, Farrell, and Torres.
