Dr. Michael Melvin is the Head of Currency Research At Barclays Global Investors. He is also affiliated with the Arizona State University Department of Economics and the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. In 1980, Dr. Melvin earned his Ph.D. in economics from UCLA.

He has been a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Board and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as a Fulbright Professor at the University of Frankfurt and a visiting professor at UCLA, Northwestern University, the University of California at San Diego, and the University of Hawaii. International Finance is his area of expertise, and he is the coeditor of the Journal of International Money and Finance.
