He’s now the Charles Harwood Professor of Operations Management Emeritus, at the Rollins College Graduate School of Business. He would call it “semi-retirement” from academia, given that he still spend over 20 hours a week working on his textbooks and all that it entails! He can honestly say that he has loved every minute of his academic career, from being a doctoral student (teaching statistics and MIS at the University of Cincinnati) to his 8 years at the University of New Orleans, 7 at George Mason (where he held the GM Foundation Chair in Decision Sciences), 2 Fulbrights to Nepal, and the past 20 years at Rollins College.
Interspersed with his academic career, Dr Render also worked in the aerospace industry, for GE’s Jet Engine Division, NASA (at the DC headquarters), and Boeing.
